Pool Chemicals

Pool chemical safety is the responsibility of backyard pool owners, professional pool service providers, and community pool managers. If you’re reading this you’re likely a backyard pool owner, perhaps you’ve purchased or are thinking of buying your pool from the number one Omaha pool company – Phoenix Pools. We proudly offer the industry-leading E-Z Pool water care program. If you have a pool or are thinking of getting one, you’re going to need to learn something about pool chemical safety.

Why Chemicals?

Pools can be compared to communal bathtubs. Although they’re a lot more than that, and nobody is using shampoo and soap, the bottom line is oils, dirt, and bacteria that is on people get washed off and mixed in pool water. Chemicals are necessary to help maintain pool water quality. Their role is especially warranted when people ignore the advice to shower before entering the pool – which seems to be most of the time. Each person who enters a pool without showering first brings with them about 0.14 grams of fecal matter. We know it’s gross, but aside from that, it’s dangerous.

Pool chemicals destroy pathogens that could be ingested by swallowing even small amounts of water. Other chemicals are used to control the pH of the water, which maximizes the effectiveness of the disinfectants. Chlorine-based chemicals, the most popular, do a fantastic job at destroying a wide range of pathogens in pool water.

E-Z Pool Water Treatment

E-Z Pool is a once a week application that keeps your pool water safe and clean. It’s a unique blended multi-tasking formula that eliminates the confusion of adding multiple chemicals every other day. • E-Z Pool inhibits scale build-up and metallic staining on your pool’s surface and equipment.

Ready for a Consistently Clean Pool?

E-Z Pool eliminates all the headaches of traditional water maintenance programs that require a multitude of chemicals. The problem with those programs is they are based on a reactive rather than preventive model. They rely on waiting until there’s a problem then treating it. E-Z Pool is proactive, meaning it prevents water problems from ever occurring and the dangers associated with them.

Concrete vs. Vinyl Liner Inground Pools

Phoenix pools can install either concrete or vinyl lined custom inground pools. But you might be wondering what the difference is and which one is best for you. Like most things, there are pros and cons to consider with both concrete and vinyl. As your Omaha pool company, we’re here to answer your questions and help you make the best decisions for your unique situation. Let’s dive into the differences between concrete and vinyl-lined inground pools.

Customization

Concrete pools are perfect if you want an extremely deep or large pool. They can be customized in fun shapes and with custom features like tanning ledges.  Vinyl liner pools are mostly rectangular, but it is possible to customize the shape, size, and depth.  Both can be customized, but it’s more expensive to customize a vinyl liner pool and concrete has more available features.

Installation Time

Concrete pools can take three to six months or longer to finish depending on the complexity of the design. A vinyl-lined pool can be completed in as little as four to eight weeks.

Surface Texture

A basic concrete finish can have a rough texture. However, you can upgrade to a polished aggregate finish that will be smooth and looks great. Vinyl liner is smooth aside from where one piece meets another. Both types of pools can be installed to have a smooth texture.

Durability

Concrete, as you may imagine, is incredibly durable. You’ll never have to worry about a concrete pool getting damaged. Vinyl liner is expectedly less durable than concrete. It will still last many years if properly cared for, just not nearly as long as a good concrete pool.

Maintenance

Both our inground concrete and vinyl lined pools can come with a Vanquish in-floor self-cleaning system. Self-cleaning systems save a lot of time, money, and reduce the cost of pool chemicals. They keep your pool temperature more consistent and extend the life of your pool.

Which One is Best for You?

Budget is a big factor along with your long term plans when deciding if you want a concrete or vinyl lined inground custom pool. If you want a larger and deeper pool with a custom shape and custom features that will last decades go with concrete. If you think you might move or sell your home in 10 years or less, have a smaller budget, and don’t want customization, then a vinyl-lined pool may be your best option.
